Disclosure: This comparison is published by Velvr — we are one of the two products. Every claim about Substy links to their public pages, dated July 2026. We verified each statement against Substy's live site before publishing; anything we could not verify is not in this article. If you spot something outdated, email hello@velvr.app and we will correct it.

The short version

Both Velvr and Substy are serious, actively developed tools for monetizing fan conversations with AI, and both support Fanvue. The core differences are structural: Substy is built as an AI chatbot plus CRM for agencies running creators across OnlyFans and Fanvue, with human-chatter team tooling and per-creator pricing that includes a commission on AI-made sales; Velvr is built Fanvue-only, for creators and small agencies running multiple AI personas in one account, with flat-rate token pricing, no revenue share, and a mechanically enforced compliance pipeline. Which one fits you depends far more on how your operation is shaped than on any single feature.

Feature and pricing table

Where Substy is strong

An honest comparison names the other side's strengths, so here are Substy's — each verified on their public pages in July 2026.

Agency CRM depth. Substy's CRM is a genuine differentiator for teams. It automatically sorts fans into lists like Spenders, Timewasters, Newbies, and VIPs, tracks per-agent sales metrics, and its Split Inbox distributes fans across team members while balancing workload (substy.ai/features/crm). Velvr has nothing comparable for managing human chatters — because Velvr doesn't have a human-chatter workflow at all.

The AI-to-human hybrid handoff. On Substy's Elite tier, Hybrid mode "automatically disables the AI as soon as a fan has spent an amount set by the agency," routing high-value fans to human chatters (substy.ai/features/ai-chat). If your operation runs a chat team and you want AI to qualify fans before humans close, this is a real workflow that Velvr does not offer.

Multi-platform coverage. Substy is live on both OnlyFans and Fanvue, with MYM listed as coming soon (substy.ai). Velvr is Fanvue-only by deliberate architectural choice. If you run creators across platforms, Substy covers ground we don't.

A low-risk entry point. Substy's Starter tier costs $0 per month per creator, with a 15% commission on sales the AI makes (substy.ai/pricing). Paying only when the AI sells is an attractive structure for agencies testing AI chat with no upfront commitment.

Content and education. Substy maintains an extensive blog of Fanvue and OnlyFans operational guides — including a full 2026 Fanvue chatbot guide that openly discusses what automation is and isn't allowed on the platform (blog). That guide explicitly warns against "using fake or impersonated AI models without disclosure," which we consider a responsible position.

A generous affiliate program. Affiliates earn 15% on every sale with no time limit while the referred customer remains active (substy.ai/affiliate). Velvr has no affiliate program at the time of writing.

Marketing and traffic tooling. Substy offers tracking links that attribute performance across traffic sources like TikTok, Reddit, and Telegram, plus mass DM with dynamic lists on paid tiers (substy.ai/features/crm, pricing). Velvr's mass DM is deliberately rate-limited to Fanvue's rules and has no cross-channel attribution.

Where Velvr is different

These are architectural choices, not universal advantages — some of them are precisely why Substy will fit certain operations better.

A transparent funnel instead of adaptive opacity. Velvr's engine is deterministic and visible. Every fan sits in a phase (1–5) computed from replies and purchases, every PPV package is stage-classified (1–5), and a fan in Phase N is only ever pitched packages up to Stage N. Your inbox shows each fan's phase, milestones, and which stages are currently eligible — and the engine only pitches when a fan explicitly asks for content or signals buy intent. Verbal flirting gets a flirty reply, not a sales pitch. Same situation, same decision, every time, with every decision audit-logged to a discrete rule.

Mechanical six-layer validation, including AI disclosure. Six independent server-side validators check every single output before a fan sees it — forbidden phrases, refusal artifacts, language drift, translator integrity, persona hard limits, and a dedicated Disclosure validator that guarantees the EU AI Act Article 50 AI-disclosure marker on Reply 1 of every new conversation. With Article 50 obligations applying from August 2, 2026, this is enforced in code, not delegated to you as a checkbox. For fairness: Substy's public pages do not document an equivalent mechanism as of July 2026 — which is a statement about their public pages, not about their internals.

Multi-persona isolation in one account. Velvr runs up to 10 personas inside one account with database-level persona_id scoping on every content row. Each persona has her own vault, folder mirror, and PPV pool; fans, content, and learned context never cross between personas. One billing relationship, N isolated identities.

Hard token caps, no revenue share. Every Velvr tier includes a fixed monthly token pool (1.5M / 6M / 20M). When it's empty, the AI pauses — with a 24-hour grace period for captions and vision — until you upgrade, buy an optional one-time boost pack (1M/$25, 5M/$99), or your cycle resets. Your cost is fixed and Velvr takes no percentage of what your AI sells. Substy's model is the mirror image: lower (or zero) fixed cost, with a tiered commission on AI-made sales. Neither is objectively better; they reward different volume profiles.

Fanvue-native billing. Velvr is billed through the Fanvue App Store with Fanvue as the merchant of record — no separate card on file with us.

Choose Substy if…

  • You run an agency across OnlyFans and Fanvue (or plan to add MYM) and need one tool for all of it.
  • You employ human chatters and want CRM tooling — split inbox, agent performance tracking, and AI-to-human handoff for high spenders.
  • You prefer paying a commission on AI sales instead of a fixed subscription, especially while testing at low volume on the free tier.
  • You want cross-channel tracking links for TikTok, Reddit, and Telegram traffic.
  • You value a vendor with a deep operational content library for agency workflows.

Choose Velvr if…

  • You are Fanvue-first or Fanvue-only and want a tool whose entire roadmap serves that platform.
  • You run multiple personas and need hard database-level isolation between them, not separate accounts or workspaces.
  • You want provable compliance: mechanical EU AI Act Article 50 disclosure and an audit log that shows why the AI said what it said.
  • You want fixed, capped costs — a flat tier price, a hard token cap, no overage fees, and no percentage of your sales.
  • You want to see the funnel: each fan's phase, each package's stage, and exactly why a given pitch happened.

FAQ

Can I use both? Not on the same Fanvue account at the same time — two systems replying to the same inbox will conflict. Some agencies run different tools on different creator accounts to compare results; if you do, compare over a full month so cooldowns and fan-phase progression have time to matter.

Is Substy cheaper than Velvr? It depends on volume. Substy's Starter tier is $0/month per creator with a 15% commission on AI-made sales; their Pro and Elite tiers are $69 and $99 per creator per month with 10% and 8.5% commissions (as of July 2026). Velvr is a flat $29–$199 per month for 1–10 personas with no commission. At low AI-sales volume, Substy's free tier costs less; as AI-driven revenue grows, a flat fee with 0% share becomes cheaper. Run your own numbers with your actual monthly AI-sales figure.

Does Velvr have Substy's CRM features? No. Velvr has per-fan funnel transparency (phase, milestones, stage eligibility) and engine analytics, but no chatter-team management, no split inbox, and no traffic-source tracking links. If those are must-haves, Substy is the stronger fit today — we'd rather tell you that than have you find out after signup.
